Parochial Mission Statement

Downham Market PCC has the responsibility of co-operating with the Incumbent in promoting in the ecclesiastical parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical.
By Mission, Downham Market PCC affirms the ‘Five Marks of Mission’, defined by the Anglican Consultative Council in 1984, affirmed by the Lambeth Conferences of 1988 and 1998, and adopted by the General Synod of the Church of England in 1996:
1. To proclaim the good news of the Kingdom;

2. To teach, baptise and nurture new believers;

3. To respond to human need by loving service;

4. To seek to transform unjust structures in society;

5. To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation, and sustain and
renew the life of the earth.

In addition, Downham Market PCC has maintenance responsibilities for the Parish Church of St. Edmund, Church Road, Downham Market, together with the Church Piece (Field) and Church Hall.
